I have been nominated by my good blogger friend Billy Mac to participate in the Three Day “Quote a Day” Challenge. This is my first challenge (that didn’t involve being struck across the cheek with a steel gauntlet) and so I’m kind of fumbling way way along here.
I’d like to thank Billy Mac for nominating me. Billy Mac is a huge inspiration to me and on days when I’m feeling a little whiny and complain-y I will think of the courage and strength he has to exhibit … every … single … day. But even more than that, he is a great writer and has a great sense of humor and it’s always a pleasure to visit his site. I invite you to check out his blog, Superman cant find a phone booth.
Here are the rules:
- Thank the person that nominated you.
-
Write one quote each day for three consecutive days (3 quotes total)
-
Explain why the quote is meaningful for you.
-
Nominate three bloggers each day to participate in the challenge
Here is my quote for Day 1:
“This isn’t a catastrophe… It’s a catastro-tunity!”
— Skipper (Penguins of Madagascar … TV Cartoon)
I am a big fan of the “Penguins of Madagascar”, and particularly their cartoon on the Disney channel more so than the movies. They never fail to make me laugh. I love their pluck and energy. I love how they all have their place in the group and all bring their own unique “skills” to the table to make amazing things happen. But most of all, I love their enthusiastic optimism. This is embodied in the quote above. They never give up. They exhaust all possibilities to get to some goal. And above all of that, they are so funny they often leave me with sore stomach muscles.
Sadly, I don’t have cable any more so I no longer get to watch them, but they are all of them my spirit animals. They can always find the opportunity presented by catastrophe.
Here’s to you, Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private.
Here are my nominees:
You are not required to participate if you don’t want to, but I hope you’ll join in the fun!
I chose these people because their blogs always inspire me, or lift my spirits when I’m feeling a little low, or just make me feel like I am a part of something wonderful. They are presented in no particular order.
DatMama4 (aka Lynda)
mainepaperpusher (also aka Linda)

Visit their blogs and show them some love! You won’t regret it.

Thank you so much for nominating me! I don’t do awards anymore. I just couldn’t keep up and I always felt like I slighted someone by not nominating everyone. However, I will leave one of my favorite quotes here. “Whatever you are, be a good one. It has been attributed to Lincoln, but some say it isn’t his. It’s a great quote no matter who said it first!
