3 – “Biff’s World” Comic Strip

Welcome to my page devoted to my “Biff’s World” comic strip.

It pokes fun at the insanity and the inanity of the world of large corporations.

If you scroll down past the links below, you’ll find my ruminations on  “Biff’s World”.

What’s It All About?

“Biff’s World” centers around as imaginary company called Biff Enterprises.  The primary shareholder, president, and CEO of this company is a man called Biff.

I’d like to state for the record that I am not the Biff in the comic strip.  The comic Biff does things I would never consider doing.  But then again, he rarely has to worry about the consequences of his actions.

Comic strip Biff is not a bad man.  He has just been in the business world so long that he has long since grown cynical about all of the insanity and inefficiency and downright boneheadedness that goes on in a typical company.  He realizes that the main purpose of a company is not to make good products or to please its customers or its employees, but to pay dividends to the shareholders.  So, he tries to have fun within that constraint.

That may also be why he constantly has a drink in his hand!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this, my first foray into cartooning.  I’d love to hear what you think!

Why I Do It (Even Though I Can’t)

Ever since I was a small child I have wanted to be a cartoonist.

There is only one problem with that dream; Namely, I can’t draw to save my life.

As a boy of about 7 or 8, I devoured anything I could get my hands on that was a comic strip.  I read things like Andy Capp, Peanuts, Fred Bassett, B.C., The Wizard of Id, Archie, Scooby Doo, Ritchie Rich, Sad Sack, Beetle Bailey, Donald Duck, Huckleberry Hound, Lil Abner, Born Loser, Eek and Meek, etc.

In short, if it was a comic, I read it.

But I only read funny comics.  I didn’t go in much for superhero stuff or horror or soap opera comics.

I remember trying to draw comics back then, but was unable to draw even the most simplistic stick figures.

Fast forward about 40-some-odd years and here I am, still wanting to be a comic strip creator more than anything … but still unable to manage even stick figures.

So, I found this web site that allows people to create comic strips by choosing from a limited selection of backgrounds and characters.  I gave it a whirl just to see how I liked it.

I loved it!

And thus, “Biff’s World” was born.  I can’t take credit for the artwork, but the words and ideas are all mine.
