Laughter Is the Best Medicine, But It’s Not Covered Under Most Insurance Plans

0 - Man Sad Laugh on Desk

It is Friday and, like everyone else in the world, I am trying to find a little normalcy to cling to in these troubled times.

As a self-proclaimed humorist, I find that these are the times in which it is hardest to be humorous.  It’s not that there isn’t anything to laugh about, it’s that we worry that we are being callous or insensitive by trying to get people to laugh when there isn’t much to laugh about.

But then I realized, what better time is there to laugh?

It is easy to laugh when everything is sunshine and butterflies, banana peels and creme pies.  It’s on gloomy days that we find it hardest to use a smile as an umbrella.

Then again, smiles make lousy umbrellas, even if they make it much easier to bear the rain.

So, if I attempt to raise a smile among my readers over the next week or two … or three, I hope you will forgive me.

Now, if you don’t mind, can you hold this creme pie for me while we all listen to this little ditty?

    Man, how true is that

    • Sadly, it is. But I have decided I am just going to keep on doing what I do. If I can bring a smile to someone’s face, then it’s worth it. And if someone thinks that’s insensitive .. well .. I can’t say that I really care that much. 🙂 We all have our own gifts and talents and passions, and we should all be using them however we can in order to chase away the darkness that surrounds us.

  2. I thought long and hard about what to write about for tomorrow–it’s been a rough week. But I was able to focus on something fun because I want to be a refuge. Thanks for being my refuge too, Biff:-)

    • You’re very welcome, Suzanne. 🙂

And, yes, it has a rough week. And for once the misery is universal and all around the world. No one is being spared. So we all need to be a refuge for each other.

So thank you, too, for being my refuge. I know all of your readers feel the same way. Keep doing what you do! It’s very much needed.

    • Dang! I didn’t know WD had ever used that title before. I thought I’d thought of it all on my own. Now I am depressed. I may have to change the title to something else.

I’m glad words (most of them anyway) are free of copyright restrictions. Otherwise, we’d never be able to say anything to anyone about anything.

On the other hand … a little peace and quiet once in a while would be nice …
