It is Friday and, like everyone else in the world, I am trying to find a little normalcy to cling to in these troubled times.
As a self-proclaimed humorist, I find that these are the times in which it is hardest to be humorous. It’s not that there isn’t anything to laugh about, it’s that we worry that we are being callous or insensitive by trying to get people to laugh when there isn’t much to laugh about.
But then I realized, what better time is there to laugh?
It is easy to laugh when everything is sunshine and butterflies, banana peels and creme pies. It’s on gloomy days that we find it hardest to use a smile as an umbrella.
Then again, smiles make lousy umbrellas, even if they make it much easier to bear the rain.
So, if I attempt to raise a smile among my readers over the next week or two … or three, I hope you will forgive me.
Now, if you don’t mind, can you hold this creme pie for me while we all listen to this little ditty?
