Good morning, fellow bloggers.
(Because, let’s face it, no one reads blogs except other bloggers.)
I am writing this to you from the warm, cozy environs of my comfy chair, which is situated in the warm, sunny lowlands of Saturday morning.
I should be up and about and doing things, but it’s Saturday morning and a time for eschewing things. I was always taught the one should eschew things well to prevent one from swallowing too much at one time.
If one can’t be lazy on Saturday morning, then when CAN one be lazy? My employer frowns upon such behavior during working hours, and, later today, and all day tomorrow, laziness will draw decidedly jaundiced eyes from others whom I apparently work for for free.
So, Saturday morning it is, then. I like to carve this heavenly little tenth or twelfth of a day out for myself to do whatever I like. That mostly consists of berating myself for being lazy and for not being a more prolific writer.
“Hemingway,” I like to tell myself frequently, “Would have already written another novel by this time in the morning before getting up to get himself another cup of coffee … or whiskey.”
“But,” I like to console myself, “He was an early riser, and I am not. And that can mean the difference between writing a full novel by 10 AM, or merely a piece of flash fiction. Or a tiny little blog post about nothing.”
I am quite good at consoling myself about not being a prolific writer. Or an early riser. Or anything at all, really.
But this is also the one time of the week that I don’t care.
Happy eschewing!
Gesundheit!

Thanks, Dave! I was trying not to eschew all over the place, but I couldn’t grab a handkerchief in time.

Ah Papa Hemingway – who said that writing was easy, just sit in front of a typewriter and bleed.
If a blog is good for anything, it is to hone your craft and find your voice. Who of us here (speaking for myself), does not have more than a few unfinished works that were abandoned because the writer found a glittery bauble to distract him. Or a not so glittery distraction called ‘living life’. Enjoy YOUR voice, Biff, and your eclectic tastes! I sense an authenticity and that is no small thing, Biff! LOve ya bro (awkward side hug followed by gruff throat clearing)

Howdy, Bro! Always glad to see you!
You’re so right about blogs being very useful for honing the ol’ writing skills. I think my writing has gotten better since those first hesitant and awkward steps I took several years ago. Now, if only I could make something useful out of it!
Thank you for always being so encouraging.

I never really contemplated the option not to be lazy on a Saturday morning 😝

I wish I could stop contemplating it! I would love to get up and spend a lazy Saturday morning without feeling guilty about it. However, it will take some time to break myself of that habit. 🙂

As long as you’re writing something for me to read, I’m happy on Sunday morning:-)

Awww! Thank you! What a nice thing to say. 🙂
The same is true of you. Keep writing! You always make me smile …. and laugh …. and spew coffee.

Spewing is what I’m always aiming for😁

I’ve never read a truer sentence in my life. It made me laugh too.

Hi Paul! I’m glad I was able to give you a laugh. 🙂
The realization of that statement hit me one time and I didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry. Ultimately, laughing is more fun, so I went that way.
Thanks for stopping by!

Although it’s a lovely day, I eschewed digging up more flowerbed space — rescuing our former garden from the quack grass roots — in favor of a nice long nap this afternoon. 😉

Sounds like a day well spent!
I must learn more about quack grass. It sounds like just the sort of thing I would like. Anything that makes me snicker when I say it is okay by me.

I always thought that was a very strange word, but have at it. . .its your day!🎃😄

It IS a strange word, which is one of the reasons I really like it. I like to use it a few times a year in casual conversation, just so I can enjoy the blank looks I get from my coworkers and family members.

Can’t beat a good eschew – especially salted with whisky…

I especially like eschewing with jerky. More bang for the buck. And for some reason, my dentist highly recommends it.

Happy Lazy Saturday, big bro 🙂 It seems like we have pretty much the same agenda! I had planned to come up with a nice story, after having a nice night of sleep with no alarm clock to wake me at a given time. But I ended up just catching up a little, reading other people’s posts, and leaving a few words here and there…. Hehehehe Oh well, there’s always next week, right? 😛

Thank you, Sis! We do seem to think a lot alike.
I always have big writing plans every day, but they evaporate into nothingness the moment I sit down at the keyboard. *sigh*
Thanks for stopping by and for chatting. I am definitely the beneficiary of you catching up on your reading! I need to do a little of that myself. I’ve been working so much lately, I haven’t had time to read much at all.
I hope all is well! *hugs*
