Biff Tunes — How Do You Do?

Mouth and MacNeal 002
Chucky in his Only Upbeat Video

For those of you who think psychedelic drugs were a relatively recent invention, I bring you this gem from the fabulous 1970s.

Once you are able to return your jaw to its normal resting place, having picked it up off of the floor, you will realize too late that you are smack in the middle of an ear worm … an ear worm that will take you half a week or more to rid yourself of.

You’re welcome.

Now, without further ado, here’s How Do You Do.

(There is more blog below the video.)

Many people have wondered whatever happened to Mouth and MacNeal after rocketing to fame with “How Do You Do”.

Well, they of course went on to found the group Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem as part of the Muppet Media Empire.

Don’t take my word for it.  here is photographic evidence.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little trip down Memory Lane.

And I do mean trip.

    • Well, you can’t blame me for trying. 🙂

I’ll keep looking for insidious ear worms to inflict on an unsuspecting public! <>

(( sorry … all the other cool villains were taken already. Ear Worm Man was all that was left.))

  1. Uh… these aren’t the seventies I remember. In fact, I’ve never heard of Mouth and MacNeal, and it’s just as well. I did give them a ten-second listen, though. That was enough. As for psychedelics, remind me sometime to tell you about the sixties. No, I didn’t do the drugs, but I did the music.

    • I lived through the 70s, too, and I also don’t remember ever hearing this song. There must have been a whole alternate universe of music that I missed out on growing up.

Of course, I was a big fan of Josie and the Pussycats, the Fat Albert Band, and the Monkees. Just goes to show you that there’s no accounting for taste!

P.S. I did not do drugs either. Thank heavens I was born too poor for them!

    • Yep … I think towards the end of the video you can actually see the moment where Chucky snapped and decided to become a psychopathic murdering dummy. Up until that moment he had been going to night school to become a manikin in the window display at Macy’s.

But the drugs and alcohol took their toll.

  2. Never heard of Mouth and MacNeal — and rightly. Bad combination of Dr Hook and ABBA after a raid on a TV company’s cast-off costumes from the 60s. Lip-synching not good either. The duo came third in the 1974 Eurovision song contest behind the winners ., . . wait for it . . . ABBA!

    • I’d never heard of them either! I’m not sure what particular bucket I had my head stuck in back then, but apparently I missed a lot of the 70s somehow.

Cool story about them losing out to ABBA! I did not know that. And just like Maxwell Smart … they missed it by THAT much!

    • Thanks, Wilt! I love stumbling across these gems.

Of course, I’m starting to be a little concerned that YouTube serves them up to me without me even looking for them. It’s like YouTube is saying, “Hey, you like really weird $*#@. Take a look at this!”

      And, of course, I do.

      Have a great weekend, Bro!
