Biff Tunes — And You Can’t Change That

Ray Parker Jr & Raydio 001

Today’s song is one of those songs that will worm it’s way into your psyche.  And you can’t change that!

You’ll find yourself humming it or singing it all day long … probably for a week or two.  But you won’t mind a bit, because it’s a fun, cool, wonderful song!

Though Ray Parker Jr. and Raydio are probably best known for the theme song to “Ghostbusters”, they had a string of hits long before ‘Ghostbusters” came out.  And much better songs, in my opinion.

Raydio’s songs were, almost without exception, catchy and clever and very musical.  This one is probably the catchiest and most clever and certainly one that would get even the most dance-impaired out of their chairs and moving around.  (I claim to be a part of that particular group.)

One of the things I love most about this song (and all of Raydio’s songs) is the harmonies.  We took harmony for granted back in the 70s and a little into the 80s.  Then, it slowly disappeared.  Let’s all hope it comes back into style someday!

And one more thing … has there ever been a cooler dude than Ray Parker?  I think not!

Name somebody else that could rock those moon boots like that.  Or who can slap a bass like that!   And check him out working the camera with his charismatic smile and playfully mischievous eyes.

And, frankly, there’s not enough alcohol in the world to get my hips to move like his do.

And best of all, these guys are just plain having fun up there!

Arnell Carmichael totally rocks those lyrics and brings a lot of emotion into what might have otherwise been a fairly straightforward dance song.

Anyway … enjoy!  And check out some of Raydio’s other great songs.

  1. Great song! I love that type of music. Do you want to follow me? My blog went private. But I am still accepting readers. I just want to know whose reading, so if you want to, go over to my site to request access. Thanks! ❤

  2. Super duper video. I’ve heard the song, and yes, tapped my foot, or just all out boogied to this song, but I’ve never watched the video. I didn’t realize until recently that music videos were even produced way back then. Thanks to Vevo and You Tube we can now. I love all the colors & energy in this one. Ray Parker’s smile is pretty nice as well. Thanks for sharing!

    • Hi Jen! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. After I posted it, I literally had it stuck in my head all weekend long. But it is a good song to have stuck in one’s head.

And I’m with you … I didn’t even realize they had music videos back then. Of course, we didn’t have a TV until I was well into my teens … and didn’t have cable until I was about 18, so there were lots and lots of things I didn’t know they had until I was much older. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you had a great weekend!
