Biff’s Weekly Top Five, Oct 12 2018

pool-snooker-ball #5

This weekly feature of mine has been published roughly bi-annually since it’s inception. That should give you an idea of how on-top-of-things I am.

Below are my top 5 favorite things I’ve read on WordPress for the past week.

The things I choose are usually single-sentence quotes, though some may be multi-sentence. I do love a good turn of phrase!

Most of them will be humorous, because that’s what I’m all about.

They are presented in no particular order.

I invite you to visit the blogs I’ve linked to and give the bloggers some love (and likes). I’d rather you give THEM the likes than me. Enjoy!

“Turn over your will to that higher power or, barring that, submit to being shot in the butt with a tranquilizer gun, bound and carried to a spot three hundred miles from your home.”

Biff’s Comments:

“Potatoes” is one of my favorite sites here on WP. The posts are always top notch and funny as all get-out. His post today on how to recognize signs that you might be a bear with a problem is absolutely hilarious. And true.

Bring your own pick-a-nick basket.

“Don’t get me wrong, I like having total control of the Post-It Notes and Sharpies and legal pads (8 1/2 by 11 and 13!). It gives me a sense of power, which I never hesitate to use on Melanie in accounting when she comes by looking for a box of the Acco Jumbo Paper Clips. ‘Les trombones geants?’ I say, arching my left eyebrow skyward like Jean-Paul Belmondo.”

Biff’s Comments:

Con Chapman over at the publishing empire of the Gerbil News Network (GNN) never fails to disappoint his reading public. Melanie in accounting may beg to differ. However, it is possible she has been overcome by Brut fumes (not to be confused with Brut force). At any rate, this is a jolly good read and I’m sure that most of the men bloggers here on WP have had similar non-experiences in our lifetimes.

“I just head to my closet, yank out my poetry sack, pull out a big wad of poetry, and appreciate the hell out of it.”

Biff’s Comments:

I think idiotprufs (if that is his real name) and I feel very much the same about poetry. I admire people who can do it properly, but I’m not one of those people. We should all have a big sack of poetry in our closets just in case of an apocalypse or something.

Biff’s Comments:

All of Wilt’s cartoon make me laugh, but this one in particular struck a chord in me. It makes me realize what a slacker I have been most of my life. There are so many things on-line that we can do to improve our lot in life. What happens to the dreams we had in our youth?

“ ‘Hey, you! Yes, you in the red suit!‘ I screamed at him. ‘I want SPECIAL birds, not your ratty little ass!‘ Again I lunged with my book flapping around to scare him. It did…and me. ”

Biff’s Comments:

I discovered Laurie’s blog, oh, about a year ago, I reckon. Stopping by her blog is always a treat. She is like that friend we all have who, though perhaps a little crazy (in a good way), is a hoot to be around. There is always something going on in her house or in her life. That’s not surprising, given all the critters she has living in her house! I love dropping by her place. I always feel like she would give me a cup of tea and regale me with the latest happenings in her life.

I strongly encourage you to drop by her blog and read some of her posts. Sadly, Laurie has decided to take a hiatus from blogging, but I hope you will encourage her to come back soon. WP just won’t be the same without her!

So there you have it: my latest installment of Biff’s Weekly Top Five. I hope you enjoyed it! And remember … go to the blogger’s sites and show them some love and appreciation!
